Independent Media Center
The Independent Media Center is a grass-roots organization that provides an alternative news source for the Champaign-Urbana community and beyond. I represented their brand with a flag because flags are used to symbolize values and serve as an iconic piece of a population’s identity. By using colors that are not commonly paired in flags, the IMC is set apart, much like its mission.
Royal Academy
The Royal Academy is a school for children, whose mission is to provide a holistic approach to teaching and learning that prepares and empowers children for academic success. The Biblical Principle is used to build and teach moral character in their students. The logo I created aims to convey that they serve children with guidance from the Bible.
Stephen Fiol
Stephen Fiol is an accomplished stage director, educator, and performer. The logo incorporates his initials and musical motifs. I also designed his website.
Long Distance Movers
I was asked to design the logo for a group of traveling dancers from across the country, known as the Long Distance Movers. The icon is based on a stamp, representing a personal connection between individuals separated by distance.
Alex and Kato Logo Refresh
Alex and Kato are former competitive ballroom dancers and studio owners. They have recently moved on from these specific ventures to new and different applications of dance and study. It was important to them to maintain certain elements of their brand (like the figures incorporated in their logo), but they wanted to refresh their brand with a new logo treatment, updated materials, and a new website. I designed and did much of the photography seen on alexandkato.com.
